Cats Hearing – What Did You Say?

Cats can hear much better than humans. They can also hear better than dogs.  They can hear sounds in the ultrasonic range, that is, very high frequencies. The reason cats can hear so much better than us is they have a cone-shaped ear that can rotate like a mini satellite dish to hone in on sounds. With the ability to pick up high frequencies, this makes the cat a great hunter and can detect the squeaks of a mouse in the house far faster than we can.

As good as cats hearing is, it is 2nd to none unless they don’t want to hear you. How many of us are forever calling our cats or talking to them and they are pretending to be asleep or doing something they shouldn’t be. They have mastered the skill of selective-hearing and choose to continuously practice it.
